Hi! I'm Kelly Slater and my major is Film. My favorite thing about horror is how unique and creative it can be. The way someone is killed, how it is edited, the different kinds of shots, overall location and the feel that it gives off is my favorite thing about horror. Fun fact about me is I was on a billboard in times square!

Hi my name is Jordon, I'm a senior Psychology major with a Clinical concentration and a Gender Studies minor. I'm excited for Women In Horror to show me a new side of the horror genre and hopefully gain a new appreciation for it.

Hello! My name’s Eddie Daou. I’m a Communications and Film Double Major at SJU, class of 2022. I’ve been a longtime horror fan, my favorite things about horror are the monsters inside its stories, the characters, and the craft that goes into making all of it work.

Hey, I’m Kyra and I’m a senior political science major with a history minor. I grew up watching horror movies with my dad and sister so I’ve always loved the genre, there's something about putting on a movie and just being so immersed in all that is disturbing and dark. Now I’m excited to re-watch movies I’ve seen countless times with a new critical, feminist lens as well as discover new movies, made by and for badass women.

Hi! I'm Jayne and I'm an art and com double major and a senior at SJU. A couple things about me is that I started the art club at saint Joes when I was only a sophomore (we now have 150 members hmu to join!), I always carry around craisins in my bag and I believe that in this life if you're going to be a copycat, you better be sure you're copying the right cats.

Hi everyone! My name is Juliana, or Jay, and I'm a senior Sociology major with a minor in Gender Studies. I've always enjoyed seeing the strange, unusual, and extreme of the human experience and emotion depicted in film -- so horror is a long-time love of mine. Within the genre, I tend to gravitate most toward slashers, psychological thrillers, and social horror. While I've loved horror for most of my life, I regrettably haven't been aware of the integral roles that women have played in its creation. I feel like liking horror as a young girl is often seen as somewhat taboo, so it's hard to fathom that there is a whole group/movement of girls and women out there like you -- not just loving horror but being involved in the process of making it every step along the way. For this reason, I'm very excited to take a closer look at the women who have shaped and continue to shape horror; the intersecting depictions of gender, sexuality, race, and other identities within horror films; and the inner-workings of the Women in Horror Movement as a whole.

Mia Porter: I am a senior Film major with a minor in Business. I love horror films, especially those about supernatural things and psychological thrillers. The first horror film I've ever seen is the Conjuring but my favorites are Carrie and The Shining.

Hi, my name is Julianna Kissinger. I am a Communications and Media Studies Student with a double minor in Marketing and Film Studies at St. Joe's University.

Hi! I'm Grace Brennan and I am a sophomore Communications major with a Film minor. I do not watch too many horror movies, but I like how there are endless possibilities. Anything can be turned into a fear. I usually prefer horror films with a lot of mind games and drama like Midsommar. I also love the TV series American Horror Story even though it is not really scary. In my free time I love to travel, thrift, cook, and go out with friends.

Hi, my name is Liz Held and I am a double communications and film major at St. Joe's. I really love how horror films are a reflection of the culture that they are set in, and include really interesting topics like gender relations, religious influence, repressed trauma, and people on the margins of society.

Hi, my name is Nick Lawrence I am a senior film major and I am an aspiring writer/actor/director. I grew up in a small town in Vermont and have always been obsessed with story telling. After attempting (and failing) to write a book, I adapted my story into a screenplay and have made film the main focus of my life. Horror has always fascinated me because of the ability for this genre to cause strong emotions in the viewers. The idea that a story someone wrote and produced causes another person to feel a certain way is really cool to me.

Hi! My name is Patricia and I am Film major with a minor in Art. I have always enjoyed the psychological aspect of horror movies and how they can reflect the psyche. Some of my favorite horror movies are Poltergeist and The Fly.

Hello! My Name is Noah Pingul I am a history and film major at St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia. I enjoy watching movies in my free time and rowing.

Hey! My name is Makiah and I am senior Communications and Media Studies major with a keen interest in everything artsy. While one of my favorite hobbies are making and creating art, I do enjoy spending my free time watching all types of horror movies! Primarily, I enjoy focusing on the aesthetics and design of a film. A few of my favorite horror movies utilize composition in very unique and artistic ways, even if it doesn't make much sense, like The Cell or Suspiria. Watching beautifully shot films is one of my favorite pastimes. Aside from that, I do enjoy twist endings and well-executed storytelling as well, so campy horror movies are not my favorite. Other than that, I would like to call myself a horror movie enthusiast, since this is something that I have been interested in since the age of five.

Hi! I'm Olivia Robinson, and I am a senior at SJU double majoring in Communications and Film. When I was younger, my dad and I would always stay up late and watch movies - most of them being horror. Additionally, I would constantly be reading scary stories and listening to old time radio horror shows. My love for different forms of storytelling began from a young age, and that quickly translated into me creating my own content. I am so excited to learn more about women in horror, and how their contributions have helped carry this genre.
